Universe Joins Fnatic to Replace Ohaiyo
The rumors were true! Saahil "UNiVeRsE" Arora, who left Evil Geniuses tree weeks ago, has joined Fnatic.
UNiVeRsE will continue to play as an offlaner, which means that he will take the place of Khoo ”Ohaiyo” Chong Xin, who has been with the team since its inception back in 2015. Together they participated in various major tournaments, their biggest accomplishments were the 5-6th places at The Shanghai Major 2016 and The Manila Major 2016, as well as the 4th place at The International 2016. In the previous year the team changed the roster several times, with the latest changes being made in November 2017, when the team replaced Steve ”Excalibur” Ye with Abed ”Abed” Yusop. Since then the team managed to place second at DOTA Summit 8 and qualify for ESL One Katowice 2018.
Adam ”343” Shah, the head coach of the team, commented on the changes:
“It is with a very sad heart that we say goodbye to Ohaiyo, he was amazing to work with. But, unfortunately, the way we understood Dota was different and increasingly forced him to play out of his comfort zone. I wish him nothing but the brightest future ahead. I would also like to welcome UNiVeRsE, who is new to playing in this region - I hope you'll feel comfortable here. Last - but not least - to the fans, we made every decision going forward concerning this with only one goal in mind: to be the very best. Thank you for continuing to support us.”
The first appearance of the updated Fnatic roster will happen at ESL One Genting minor tournament, which will be held on January 23-28.
